There are many different reasons why life can become difficult. Things we have been through, our relationships, habits, and the ways we have learned to cope can all affect how we feel and react. When life gets difficult, it can be hard to think clearly. You may find yourself worrying more, feeling tense or stressed, or getting stuck in the same thoughts and behaviours, even when you know they are not helping. Sometimes it can be difficult to see a way forward on your own.

What can therapy do?

Therapy can help you understand why you keep running into the same difficulties. You may notice certain patterns in the way you think, feel, or react, but not always understand where they come from. Talking about these things can help you make sense of what is happening and decide what you would like to change. We can look at thoughts that keep coming back and whether they are actually helping you. Sometimes our thoughts can make an already difficult situation feel even harder. We can also look at behaviours that are getting in your way, such as avoiding things, putting them off, or falling back into habits you want to change. From there, we can work on different ways of responding. Understanding your emotions can be an important part of therapy too. You may know that something is bothering you without really knowing why. Some feelings can be difficult to recognise or talk about. Taking the time to understand them can make it easier to know what you need and how you want to respond. Sometimes the things you are struggling with have been around for a long time. They may be connected to experiences from earlier in life or to beliefs you developed about yourself, other people, or relationships. We can look at how these experiences and beliefs may still be affecting you today. Therapy can also be practical. We can work on ways to deal with stress, anxiety, strong emotions, and difficult situations. This might mean learning how to stay grounded when things feel overwhelming, communicate your needs more clearly, or find a different way of responding. Not everything has to be about the past. We can also focus on what is happening in your life right now, find practical ways forward, and build on your strengths, values, and what is already working for you.

Therapy is not always a straight line. New things can come up as we talk, and sometimes we may go back to something we discussed earlier. We can adjust what we focus on as we understand more about what is going on.

This is one way therapy can look, but it won't necessarily be the same for everyone. We can spend more or less time on different parts depending on what you need.

In person therapy in Veldhoven & Eindhoven

For some people, meeting in person just feels more comfortable. Being in the same room makes it easier to see each other's facial expressions and body language and to hear the tone of voice.

Meeting in person can also help you feel more present and focused during the session. The therapy room is a quiet and private place where we can sit down, talk, and take the time you need.
